Right in the heart of San Juan, the Puerto Rico Convention Center is getting a new neighbor. Debuting in Q1 of 2020, El Distrito San Juan will be a five-acre hospitality and entertainment district where business travelers can work and play. Here’s a look at what the new facility will have to offer.
A State-of-the-Art Public Plaza
El Distrito San Juan’s 50,000-square-foot Public Plaza will have a showroom with space for more than 6,000 people, including a 900-guest VIP section, two outdoor bars and a center stage for performances. Here, attendees will have the chance to ride a zipline through the plaza and party at Puerto Rico’s first multi-purpose day and nightclub—perfect for events at all hours.
The District Studios, a radio and television production studio, will overlook the Plaza and stage. But the centerpiece of El Distrito San Juan will be the Plaza’s 14,000 square feet of LED screens, including the largest horizontal screens in the Americas, which makes the venue well-suited for broadcasting large-scale events.
Immersive Local Flavors
Caffeine is a welcome fixture at any business event, and guests here will have the chance to savor the local gourmet coffee. In El Distrito San Juan, attendees can take part in an interactive learning experience and taste the uniquely smooth and sweet flavors of café Puertorriqueño, Puerto Rico’s traditional roast. Later in the day, it’ll be time to make rum at a local micro-distillery during a hands-on experience run by one of the globe’s largest rum producers. Puerto Rico is the rum capital of the world, after all. Through this interactive experience, guests will learn about rum production and the various ways to enjoy it, while having the opportunity to make their own premium blend.
