Kerrin MacPhie
VisitBritain/VisitEngland has appointed Kerrin MacPhie as head of business events, effective early November. She previously worked for 11 years as director of conference and exhibition sales at ACC Liverpool. In her new role, MacPhie will focus on developing the national strategy to host more international events across the U.K. She will also reinforce partnerships across government and industry to build Britain’s international brand for business events.
Rachelle Castaneda Mata
Visit Santa Clara has named Rachelle Castaneda Mata its new director of sales. She previously worked for the Santa Clara Convention & Visitors Bureau in another capacity — as national sales manager. Most recently, she served as director of sales & marketing at the Hilton Hotel in Cupertino. In her new position, she will manage the sales team in its efforts to bring conventions and trade shows to Santa Clara.
Karen Bolinger
The Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) has elected Karen Bolinger, CEO of the Melbourne Convention Bureau, its new president. She succeeds Lyn Lewis-Smith, CEO of Business Events Sydney, who served as AACB president for four years.
Michelle Fahey and Maria Palmer
Ashfield Meetings & Events has made two promotions to support the continued growth of its Midwest location. Michelle Fahey, who joined the organization in 2012 as program manager, has been promoted to account director. Maria Palmer, who previously worked as an account director, has been promoted to the role of executive director. Palmer will now have formal oversight of the Indianapolis office’s daily operations and account responsibilities.
