Members of PCMA’s 20 in Their Twenties class of 2019 see a bright future for the business events industry, a future to which they plan to contribute. Olivia Pelzer shares her impressions of and expectations for the industry.
What do you like most about your job?
I like seeing events come to life on-site, and knowing all the behind-the-scenes details and planning that helped make them successful events.
Where would you like your career to go?
I would like to continue to make a positive impact in any future role. I want to know that the work I’m doing is helping someone have a better event experience, whether it’s interacting directly with the customer or working behind the scenes to help the organization enhance their event through technology.
What’s the best day you’ve had in the meetings industry so far?
Finding out that I won this award was the best day so far! All of my achievements throughout my short career have led to this honor and I can look back on everything I’ve done and recognize my success.
What will be the biggest change in the industry over the next 20 years?
Technology continues to evolve and will keep changing the way attendees experience events. The pre, on-site, and post experiences have drastically changed in the five years I’ve been in the industry due to the way attendees communicate, respond, and interact with technology. I look forward to being a part of the industry as it and technology continue to evolve in the next 20.
