After three and a half years as a senior director, global education, meetings and strategic partnerships, at the American Academy of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery, Johnnie White is making a career leap. Beginning April 15, White will take over as the executive vice president and CEO of the American Society of Appraisers. In an email announcement, he reflected on his time at AAO-HNS as an “opportunity to work with a number of great individuals” that helped him “create some incredible, innovative programs.”
The PCMA community is familiar with White’s appreciation of innovation. He served as the organization’s chairman of the Board of Directors in 2013 and has filled numerous other roles for PCMA, including chairing the planning committee for Convening Leaders in 2006 and serving as the president of the Capital Chapter.
As event organizers work to secure a coveted “seat at the table,” White’s transition into the CEO role provides a prime example. He started his career as a program manager and event specialist at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1992. Stay tuned for an interview in Convene to learn more about White’s career arc and his approach to leadership.
