Convene Magazine Launches New August Issue With 'Best Of' Honors

PCMA’s Award-Winning Publication Recognizes Meetings Industry Leaders in CSR, Technology, F&B, Social Media, Off-Site Space, and Five Other Categories

CHICAGO, Illinois, July 31, 2012  — Today PCMA’s Convene magazine publishes its first-ever August issue — and commemorates the occasion with another first: an awards program that honors the best meetings industry venues, destinations, and service providers in 10 categories, as determined by Convene’s readers and editors.

Previously, Convene’s August publication was the Annual Directory of Meeting Sites, Cities, and Services. This year, the Annual Directory is being published as a supplement to a complete August issue, with the magazine’s usual award-winning mix of feature and departments — anchored by “Best in Show,” a cover package that invited Convene readers to nominate their favorite CSR initiatives, technology tools, F&B programs, social-media initiatives, off-site venues, and six other categories. Convene editors then reviewed the nominations and picked the top five honorees for each category.

“Once we committed to producing an August issue, we knew we had to do something special to really have it make a splash,” said Michelle Russell, Convene’s editor in chief. “Our Best in Show program is classic Convene in that it’s something new for us, it’s fun, and it shines a light on some of the most innovative players in the meetings industry.”
