American Society of Anesthesiologists Names a New Director of Meetings

Danielle Urbina has been named as the new Director of Meetings for the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Danielle brings more than 20 years of event management experience, producing association, corporate and medical meetings, trade shows and special events.

As Director of Meetings, Danielle will work strategically to implement ASA® events with a primary focus on the ANESTHESIOLOGY™ annual meeting and PRACTICE MANAGEMENT, to maximize value for attendees and the Society at large. Danielle will develop meeting strategies and plans that anticipate and reflect the evolving needs of our growing organization.

Danielle most recently served as the Director of Meetings and Exhibits for the American Nuclear Society (ANS), a non-for-profit, international, scientific and educational organization, comprised of nearly 12,000 nuclear engineers, scientists, administrators, and educators. Prior to her role at ANS, Danielle led the Meetings and Exhibits functions at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).

Danielle began her career as an event professional with Hyatt Hotels Corporation. She then established a successful career as an independent meeting professional working with firms such as Mary O’Connor and Company and Tangerine Meetings and Events.  Over the years, Danielle planned and executed events for numerous organizations including the American Board of Medical Specialties, the American Hardware Manufacturers Association, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Roche Diagnostics, Eli Lily and Company, Starbucks Corporation, and Sears 

Danielle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and an active member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). She serves as a mentor to students and was recently appointed to the PCMA Student Advisory Group. She is an Adjunct Faculty member at Roosevelt University in the Manfred Steinfeld School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. She is also a participating member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

Danielle was identified as a candidate by responding to a posting on PCMA’s Career Center. Danielle will officially join ASA’s Park Ridge Office on Monday, January 6, 2014.
