Following your city welcome by Boris Johnson, we will walk you over the Thames to enjoy pre-dinner drinks on their riverside terrace.  This will be followed by an ice breaker and then a sit down dinner of ‘posh British fare.’

Opening Session: Welcome to the PCMA Global Medical Meetings Summit

Location: Butlers Wharf Chop House

We begin our program and British adventure with a welcome session that outlines what we can expect over the next few days, including key learning objectives and our daily itineraries. We’re going to spend quite a bit of time together over the next two days, so let’s get to know each other in a fun and casual way. Afterwards, we will all enjoy dinner with our hosts ExCeL London and London and Partners. Guests welcome.

We will hear from:

    • Johnnie White, Executive Director, Center For Education, Cardiovascular Research Foundation, 2013 PCMA Chairman of the Board
    • Deborah Sexton, President and CEO, PCMA
    • James Rees, Executive Director, ExCeL London

 Session objectives:

A variety of UK-based technology companies will provide educational demos displaying a range of solutions specific to medical meetings.

    • Identify opportunities for technology to expand the reach of medical societies

A Moderated Panel Discussion on Strategies for Medical Meetings and Global Pharma and Device Compliance

    • Gain insight into the complexities of pharmaceutical and medical device codes and compliance
    • Delve into the similarities and differences of compliance issues for North American, European and global medical societies

Lancaster House is situated in West London close to St James’s Palace.  It has hosted more heads of state, politicians and celebrities than any other venue in London! It is a glorious venue in a prestigious central location and is steeped in political history.

The Rt Hon Maria Miller, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and Minister for Women and Equalities will be hosting the event for the evening.  This will be the most formal evening with drinks in the garden, followed by a sit down three course dinner.

9:30 – 15:00 SCENARIO PLANNING WORKSHOP WITH FRANCK SCHUURMANS, PH.D.

Future Planning – Navigating Challenges and Innovations for your Organization    

Location: Suite 3 & 4

This session will address future strategic challenges, innovations and, renewal of the association business model. We will focus on tools to effectively manage a future under uncertain conditions (health care, social media, economic integration, new competition, etc.). Dr Franck Schuurmans is a professor at the European Center for Executive Development (CEDEP-INSEAD) at Fontainebleau France and he teaches at the Aresty Institute for Executive Education at the Wharton School, DUKE CE and Skolkovo business school in Moscow. His specialty is long range planning and decision science.

Lunch and breaks will be scheduled throughout the program.

    • Utilize long range scenario planning techniques to map out challenges and opportunities for your meetings and associations
    • Foresee and embrace opportunities for innovation within your organization

Your evening will begin with drinks at the award-winning ‘Lounge Lover’ cocktail bar, followed by dinner at the restaurant.  We hope to end your trip with a fun night out with exceptional food.
