Dear Southwest & Pacific Chapter Members:
I am excited to begin serving my term, as President of the Southwest & Pacific Chapter of PCMA in 2010, and I look forward to making this year a great one!
I am especially proud of the new and returning Board of Directors assembled for 2010, and am honored to serve with these industry leaders. Please know that your board is committed to provide education that will help you do your job more effectively, enhance your career and exceed your organization's goals. Together, we are already busy planning an exciting year for you. Our 2010 board has years of experience in our industry, and each member brings new ideas, viewpoints and renewed energy to our chapter.
I encourage you to come to our events and be a part of your Southwest and Pacific Chapter of PCMA. 2010 promises to be the year of change where we can see the light at the end of tunnel. Though things are not yet quite back to normal, we are living and working in "the new normal" and we hope to bring you programs this year that will help you navigate through these times in both your professional and personal lives. Please come meet, share and connect with all of us. Bring a client, a co-worker, or an industry colleague with you. Take time to consider what you can do to revitalize our industry and ensure that we continue to flourish. It takes all of us connecting together to make this chapter thrive, and we can't do it with out you!!
We ask you to become involved, and attend our meetings and events. Some of the standing committees that we have include: Programs, Membership, Sponsorship, Service in Sync, Hospitality, Student Outreach. Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering on one of these committees. Otherwise, if you only have limited time to give, we can always find some sort of specific volunteer opportunity that will not take up too much of your time.
2010 also promises to be an exciting year for our Chapter as the 2011 Annual Meeting will be held within our Chapter next year-in Las Vegas! We will be working with Las Vegas members on planning some special chapter meetings in their area this year. There will also be many volunteer opportunities to help with the Annual Meeting as well. This is definitely the year to stay involved with your chapter!
Please visit our chapter website frequently, at www.pcma.org/SP to keep up-to-date with our activities and events. It is truly an honor to be serving as your President.
With sincere thanks and gratitude,
Sylvia Harrison, CMP
