Mission: The Capital Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) delivers breakthrough education, encourages involvement in community-based service programs, and promotes the value of professional convention and meeting management at the local level.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Welcome to the PCMA Capital Chapter website! PCMA is the leading organization for meeting and event professionals. The mission of the PCMA Capital Chapter is to deliver breakthrough education and to promote the value of professional convention management at the local level. The Capital Chapter holds a variety of programs throughout the year which bring together planner professionals, suppliers, faculty, and students.

In 2010, the PCMA Capital Chapter will present several large Educational Programs, smaller Planner Forums (which are designed to be senior level informal gatherings of professionals focused on specific topics), Emerging Professional Forums (similar to Planner Forums with topics that are more mid level), a variety of Networking Events, and several Special Events which reach out into our community.

With over 1500 members, our chapter strives to reach out to each member by insuring that all of our events are informative and provide an avenue for networking with fellow PCMA members. We realize that not every member is able to make all of the planned events, but we want to encourage everyone to make an attempt to attend as many as possible. It is a great way to stay in touch with industry friends, to reconnect with colleagues you have met throughout the years, and to share industry knowledge with your peers.

If it was not for our dedicated chapter volunteers, we would not be able to plan and execute all of the fantastic events each year. I thank all of you who are actively participating in one of our committees.

Want to get involved but don't know how much time you can dedicate? We have a Volunteer On-The-Go program. For those of you who want to volunteer but may not want to be placed on a permanent committee, please contact pcmainfo@ascent-management.com.

If you are not a member, please know that you are always welcome at our events. I believe that if you are involved in our industry, once you get to know our dynamic members, you will want to join PCMA and get involved! If you are already a member, thank you for your continued support and I encourage you, if you are not already, to volunteer for the chapter and make the most out of your PCMA membership.
